This lecture will provide you with a solid understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, known as the alimentary canal or the digestive tract. You will learn about the general GI tract signs and symptoms and the diagnostics for GI tract diseases and disorders. The lecture will then focus on the esophagus and its role in digestion.
You will learn about some of the diseases and disorders which affect the esophagus and are most commonly seen in underwriting and how these impact mortality. You will learn about the diagnostic techniques used to investigate signs and symptoms of the esophagus which confirm a diagnosis, as well as any potential complications developing from the disease and disorder and the treatment required to control the symptoms and further progression of the disease.
